Solar Array:
At the 2012 Annual Town Meeting, the Town Meeting voted to authorize a 20-year Net-Metering Contract with EPG, the company building the solar array. The total solar array size is 3.4MW and it is one of the top ten solar facilities in the State. It is located on approximately 20 acres of property in Southbridge. The solar facility will offset approximately 6.5 million pounds of CO2 annually and enough power for about 300 homes. Additionally, given energy prices have increased since Ayer entered into the Net-Metering Contract, Ayer stands to save approximately $112k thousand a year.
