Complete Streets Policy

Ayer Implements Complete Streets Policy

The Ayer Board of Selectmen recently approved a Complete Streets Policy for the Town. By incorporating this Complete Streets Policy, the Town of Ayer will advance its efforts to provide safety and accessibility for all the users of our roadways, trails and transit systems, including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, motorists, commercial vehicles, and emergency vehicles and for people of all ages and of all abilities. Where feasible, Complete Streets design recommendations will be incorporated into all publicly and privately funded projects. The Town will be developing a Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. The Complete Streets Prioritization Plan will be a detailed strategy to improve safety, mobility or accessibility. It will identify the streets, infrastructure, cost estimates and schedules for identifying, prioritizing and constructing Complete Street improvements.  There is MassDOT funding for this effort and both the public and various Town Boards and Committees will be involved in the plan development.   If you have any questions or comments, contact Mark Wetzel at the Department of Public Works (978) 772-8240 mwetzel@ayer.ma.us.
