Swimming lessons
Swim lessons begin July 6th with new and returning
Red Cross certified swim instructors. Levels go from
1-6 with level 1 for those who are age 4 and up and
are beginners with very little swimming experience.
Lessons are available in morning or evening sessions. The dates are:
July 6 to July 17 for session I
July 27 to August 7 for session II
Pre-registration is necessary.
Level 1 - Emphasis for beginners is water safety and gaining confidence in the water by learning how to float and hold their breath briefly under water.
Level 2 - Swimmers learn some basic strokes and continue to work on their confidence in the water.
Level 3 - Teaches back stroke and side stroke and continued work on front crawl and other basic strokes.
Level 4 - Swimmers should be very comfortable in the water, are already familiar with basic strokes, learning dives, students at this level will be going out to the large dock.
Levels 5 and 6- Levels 5 and 6 are for slightly older children who would like to work on endurance swimming, diving and learning more advanced water safety skills.
Registration forms can be downloaded here or picked-up outside the Parks office on the third floor of Town Hall. Lessons range in price from $45-$55 for residents and $55-$65 for non-residents, depending on the level being taught.
