Page Hilltop Elementary School – Back Fence

Happy Fox

When it is said that an elementary school needs a fence around it, one would think it is to keep the children in… but this story is quite the opposite!

It all started with a happy little fox. This happy little fox kept appearing on the Page Hilltop playground. And it could make a wonderful children’s story about a school’s new friend. But clearly, this fox posed a risk to students and faculty. So in 2002, Principal Denise Fronius worked with Ayer’s Community Preservation Committee to fund the construction of a fence. CPC provided $27,000 of Recreation Funding to install the fence that kept the fox off the playground and kept the students right where they should be!
