Join the Friends of the Ayer Library for our annual meeting on Thursday, October 17, 6pm-8pm at the Ayer Library! Whether you've been active with the Friends or not, you're welcome to attend for the entire meeting or as long as you are able. Do you have topics you'd like us to add to the agenda? If so, please email them to friendsoftheayerlibrary@gmail.com no later than October 3, when the agenda will be distributed via email. 

At the meeting, we'll vote in the 2020 slate of officers. If you know someone (yourself included) who might want to run for president, vice president, treasurer, secretary or member-at-large, please submit that person's name (first, get their approval!) to friendsoftheayerlibrary@gmail.com by October 3. The positions are served for one year and attendance at 4 quarterly board meetings is expected. Position descriptions follow: 

  • The President/Director shall call, preside over and conduct all meetings of the Executive Board, and may represent The Friends at private and public activities.
  • The Vice President shall perform the duties of the President in the absence of the President. 
  • The Secretary shall keep minutes of meetings, distribute agendas, take care of all necessary correspondence and public communications. 
  • The Treasurer shall keep and maintain all financial records and bank accounts. The Treasurer shall prepare a financial report for the annual membership meeting and shall file all state and federal tax forms and the annual report to the Secretary of the Commonwealth. 
  • Members at Large shall advise the Executive Board and shall take on special projects as needed.
