2020 Annual Town Meeting COVID-19 Public Guidance

The Annual Town Meeting will be held on Monday, June 15, 2020 at 7pm in the Auditorium of the Ayer Shirley Regional High School at 141 Washington Street.  Due to the unprecedented circumstances and challenges of the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Town of Ayer would like to provide the following guidance for the safety and health of the public and all Town Meeting workers.  Your attention and cooperation with these Town Meeting guidelines is greatly appreciated.   

• The ATM under State Law must take place in person and cannot be conducted using remote participation.
• The Town has implemented a plan of social distancing and sanitization.  All attendees are required to practice the principles of social distancing (at least 6 feet apart) while participating in Town Meeting.
• All attendees are required to sit in the marked seating in the high school auditorium which is at least 6 feet apart and will be required to remain in their marked seating for the duration of Town Meeting.  Please no socializing or changing of seats.
• For social distancing and sanitary purposes there will be no microphones in the aisles of the auditorium, nor will there be any portable microphones.
• To ask a question/participate you must first be recognized by the Town Moderator from your seat; stand from your seat when recognized; clearly state your name and address for the record and ask your question.  The question will then be repeated by the Town Clerk into a microphone for the benefit of all attendees.
• Due to the designated seating in the auditorium, overflow seating will be provided in the cafeteria, which is equipped with live, real time streaming. Attendees in the cafeteria will be able to participate and ask questions as facilitated by the Deputy Moderator appointed by the Town Moderator.
• All attendees are respectfully requested to wear a mask/face covering.
