Ayer Shirley Regional School District will be closed for two weeks

March 16, 2020, through March 27, 2020

March 13, 2020

Dear Ayer Shirley School Community:

First, I want to extend my thanks and appreciation for your patience and understanding during this very challenging time. My decision to open schools today was not only based on waiting for guidance from the Governor, Commissioner, and DPH, but to enable us to bring closure for our students. The State is not issuing a directive for all schools to close. It is a local decision.

The Superintendents in the area have collaborated and have issued a joint statement on school closure. The Ayer Shirley Regional School District will be closed for two weeks from March 16, 2020, through March 27, 2020. Please see announcement below.

Our goal is to prevent a significant loss of learning for students during this time, and we are in the process of coordinating materials and modified lessons to provide continuity of learning for all students in the best way that we can. We will communicate with you on Monday, March 16, 2020, to inform you of available resources and materials for your child.

It may feel like there is no end to this in sight, but it will come to an end.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you again for your patience and support.

Sincerely,
Dr. Malone
Superintendent of Schools
