Columbia Street Heavy Commercial Vehicle Exclusion

The Town of Ayer is implementing a Heavy Commercial Vehicle Exclusion on Columbia Street (Central Avenue to Main Street) in accordance with the Traffic Regulation Permit approved by MassDOT. Commercial vehicles over 2½ tons capacity are excluded from Columbia Street and shall use alternate routes. Details of the Exclusion include:

Excluded Route – Columbia Street (Central Avenue to Main Street)

Exclusion Type – Over Two and One Half (2½) Tons Capacity

Hours of Exclusion – 24 Hours, 7 days

Alternate Route – Central Avenue, Groton Harvard Road, Main Street

Exemption – This exclusion does not apply to heavy commercial vehicles going to or coming from any of the above excluded routes for the purpose of making deliveries of goods, materials, or merchandise to or similar connections from abutting land or buildings or adjacent streets or ways to which access cannot otherwise be gained; or to vehicles used in connection with construction, maintenance and repair of said streets or public utilities herein; or to Federal, State, Municipal or public service corporation owned vehicles.
