Vacancy on Parks Commission:  Deadline for Applications is July 12, 2019

The Ayer Parks Commission currently has one vacancy.  The Ayer Park Department consists of five elected commissioners each elected for three year terms charged with the responsibility of seeing to the recreational needs of the town by providing clean and well-groomed park and beach facilities as well as safe, appealing recreational programs for members of the community. The department employs a full time Supervisor of Recreation and Maintenance, as well as seasonal swimming instructors, lifeguards and maintenance personnel responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of Pirone Park and Sandy Pond Public Beach. The Parks Commission also delegates subcommittees to run Town sponsored recreational activities such as Ayer Youth Basketball and Ayer Youth Soccer.  The Park Commission meets once each month in the evening or as posted at the Town Hall. 

This is typically an elected position but vacancies are filled by a joint appointment process by the Board of Selectmen and Parks Commission.  The successful applicant’s appointment will be until the next Town Election in April 2020.  Applicants must be at least 18-years of age and a resident of Ayer.  Interested applicants should send a letter of intent and resume to the Town Manager, 1 Main Street, Ayer, MA 01432 or to tm@ayer.ma.us.  Applicants will be interviewed by a joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and Parks Commission and the successful applicant will be selected by a majority vote of the joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and Parks Commission.  The deadline for applications is Friday, July 12, 2019
