Volunteer Opportunities:  Cemetery Commission (Deadline of June 24, 2022)

The Town of Ayer is seeking residents to be appointed to the newly formed Cemetery Commission.  The Cemetery Commission is a three-member appointed Commission by the Select Board which is responsible for the oversight, policies, and care of the Woodlawn Cemetery.  The Cemetery Commission will work closely with the DPW Director regarding the implementation of policies; care and maintenance; pricing; and other aspects of the Woodlawn Cemetery which is now owned and operated by the Town of Ayer.  All three positions on the Cemetery Commission are open and will initially serve staggered three-year terms, meaning one seat will be for one year; one seat for two years; and one set for three years.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and a resident of Ayer.  Interested applicants should send a letter of intent to the Town Manager’s Office indicating their interest in serving on the Cemetery Commission by the deadline of June 24, 2022.  All applicants will appear before the Select Board at a duly posted meeting to be interviewed by the Select Board and considered for appointment.  For more information about the Cemetery Commission or this appointment process, please contact the Town Manager’s Office at (978) 772-8220 x100 or at tm@ayer.ma.us  Thank you.
