2021 Community Grants Program: Request for Proposals

The Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers Wild & Scenic Stewardship Council has created a Community Grants Program aimed to engage municipalities and local organizations in protecting the rivers’ resources and building strong local stewardship of the rivers in accordance with the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers Stewardship Plan. The goals identified in the Stewardship Plan are tied to protecting or enhancing the three rivers and their Outstandingly Remarkable Resource Values that include: biological diversity, recreation & scenic, and historical & cultural resources.  View the Nashua, Squannacook, and Nissitissit Rivers Stewardship Plan.

Basic Information about Stewardship Council’s RFP

Application Deadline:  Grant applications will be accepted from February 1, 2021 through April 1, 2021.

Who May Apply: Eligible entities include municipalities, municipality-affiliated groups, and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations from the communities along the Wild and Scenic designated rivers (Ayer, Bolton, Brookline, Dunstable, Groton, Harvard, Hollis, Lancaster, Pepperell, Shirley, and Townsend). Eligible Projects:  Projects must address one or more of the goals of the Stewardship Plan and protect and/or enhance the ORRVs of biological diversity, historical & cultural, or recreational & scenic resources and/or increase awareness, appropriate use, and appreciation of these resource values. Project Timeline:  Projects must be completed within one year of the award.

Funding:  The Stewardship Council anticipates awarding four to five small grants, up to approximately $5,000 each to advance the goals of the Stewardship Plan.
