July 26, 2022 Drought Update
On July 21, 2022, the State Drought Task Force changed our geographical area to be in a state of Critical Drought due mostly to the continued rainfall deficit.
As of July 1, 2022, we are 4.79” precipitation deficit for the year compared to the 30-year average.
As of July 26, 2022, Ayer has received only 1.28” of precipitation compared to the average 3.8” for the month of July.
The Ayer DPW is closely monitoring the drought conditions and assess daily the need for more restrictive conservation efforts to maintain a resilient Water Supply.
What will the Town continue to do?
- Suspend Automatic Sprinkler Systems on public property
- Suspend Variance Application approvals for new lawn installations
- Suspend the Flushing Program
- Reduce Vehicle Washing
What can the Public do?
- Voluntarily suspend all non-essential outdoor water use
- Consider different ways to reduce water waste in your own homes and businesses
