Hazard Mitigation Plan Working Group

In coordination with the Town of Ayer, the Montachusett Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) will prepare a Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP) update in accordance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) guidelines for Hazard Mitigation Planning.

Ayer’s updated plan will address mitigation of multiple natural hazards that may affect the community, including flood hazards, winter storm hazards, wind hazards, wildfire hazards and geologic hazards.

MRPC will prepare an HMP suitable for submittal to MEMA and FEMA to comply with the Disaster Mitigation Act and associated regulatory requirements for local hazard mitigation plans found at Title 44 Code of Federal Regulations §201.6.

MRPC will update the data and analysis from the Montachusett Region 2016 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and the recent Ayer 2020 Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) plan (a.k.a. Community Resilience Building Summary of Findings Report) to complete this HMP update.
