Taxes Due Dates

Due Dates:

As a matter of law, real and personal property taxes are due as of July 1st of the year to which the tax relates. Notwithstanding, interest accrues only if payment is not made by payment due dates.

The Town of Ayer collects Taxes under the Quarterly System.  Bills are due 30 Days after the mailing of the tax bill or:

  • August 1st, on or before 11:59 pm
  • November 1st, on or before 11:59 pm
  • February 1st, on or before 11:59 pm
  • May 1st, on or before 11:59 pm

Bills are mailed twice a year and each mailing includes 2 invoices.  The First mailing is done on or before July 1, and includes the 8/1 and 11/1 due invoices.  The second mailing is done on or before January 1 and includes the 2/1 and 5/1 due invoices.

Owners with Mortgages:

Tax bills are mailed to the owner of record. In the event an owner has their taxes escrowed and paid on their behalf, the Town of Ayer is obligated to still mail the owner a bill.

Replacement Bills:

If you do not receive your tax bill please email us at Tax@ayer.ma.us to request a copy or statement.  At this time it may be important to include your correct mailing address
