Council on Aging Update - July 31 2020

UPDATE from the Executive Director of the AYER COA July 31, 2020
It has been a very different 5 months for all of us here at the Ayer Council on Aging.  We have remained operating, but we are not open to the public.  It seems we will remain this way until further notice.  We have been able to offer most of our services remotely, door-to-door.  We are following all protocols set by our State and Town officials. We have prepared a plan for moving forward, but as everyone knows there are changes daily.  We also have the issue of lack of space, which causes a problem for social distancing. For the time being we will remain operating daily, in the same fashion as we have for the past 5 months.  We are working to bring Curb Side Services to our clients by teaming up with the Ayer Library for August.  We are hoping to supply folks with materials from the Library, as well as household needs and items.  We hope to have an area under a tent set up outside The Center.  These plans are still under development.

We continue our daily transportation with our MART Van Service!  All riders must wear a mask.    We provide rides to Doctors appointments (this is priority); as well as in-town shopping.  If you need transportation please call us to see  if it is something we can help you with.

We are continuing with our daily Off-Site Meal program for those in need.  We are only able to drop off for clients, with no contact.    Also, we are running errands and shopping for our clients.

And most importantly we are here if you need to talk or need any service related information.  Please call 978-772-8260 M-F 8am – 3:30 PM.

Remember to practice social distancing and please wear your masks!
