Historic Resources Survey

The Ayer Historical Commission has engaged a consultant to perform a historic resources survey in town.  The survey will document the architecture and history of about 95 older buildings and structures in town.  Collecting this information provides a record of buildings significant to the history of Ayer before they are gone.  It also helps guide preservation and planning efforts.  Knowing the historical significance of buildings is vital before deciding what is worth preserving.

Our consultant is Ms. Stacy Spies.  You may see her in the coming weeks driving or walking around town, taking notes and photographs of buildings from the street.

This is the second phase of this project.  The first phase was completed in 2007.  The information collected is stored on a database maintained by the Massachusetts Historical Commission.  The database may be viewed here.

For more information, please contact the Ayer Historical Commission through the town website, or call the Town Manager’s office at (978)772-8220.

This project is funded in part through the Community Preservation Act.
