East Main Street Water and Sewer Improvement Project

The Ayer Department of Public Works will be constructing water and sewer improvements on East Street, East Main Street and Faulkner Street, beginning in April. This project will last several months. A public meeting will be held at the Ayer Town Hall on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 PM. Representatives from the DPW, the Engineering Company and the Contractor will be present to discuss the project and answer questions.

This project is the beginning of a major upgrade to East Main Street. It involves replacement of the 120 year old water pipe with a new 16-inch ductile iron water main. New water services to the houses will be installed from the new water main to the property line (property line to the house in the home owners’ responsibility). The project will also involve relining of the sewer pipe. A future project (2017) will include new sidewalks, curbing, drainage, pavement and streetscape.
We will be posting construction updates at regular periods on the Town website, Town Hall and the Public Library and sending out email updates.
