Opening of New Rail Trail Parking Facility set for January 20

The Ayer Rail Trail Commuter Parking Facility Opening Announced Monday January 20, 2020
Ayer, MA - - The Ayer Rail Trail Commuter Parking Facility, located at 3 Groton Street, will open on Monday January 20, 2020 at 5:00 AM. The Depot Square Parking Lot, located adjacent to the Ayer Commuter Rail St/commuter-parking/files/press-release-opening-new-rail-trail-parking-facility ation, will close after the last train on Sunday January 19, 2020 as preparations begin for the improved access and pedestrian sidewalk. The “0 Park Street” lot, located between the rear of the Ayer Fire Station and the Dunkin’s will be reserved for Ayer residents only, initially free of charge.
The rate for parking in the Ayer Rail Trail Commuter Parking Facility will be $4 per day for either single day or multiple day passes. Monthly passes are also available for $65. Both daily and monthly passes can be purchased on-site at either of two kiosks located on the first floor of the garage with a pay by plate system.
Parking in the new facility will be free through January 31, 2020. Effective February 3, 2020, users must purchase either daily or monthly passes. Users will be charged from 5:00 AM – 6:00 PM Monday – Friday. Nights (after 6:00 PM), weekends, and holidays are free of charge.
There are also 17 spots (including 2 handicap acessible) reserved for Rail Trail use Monday – Friday. These are free of charge and have a four hour maximum length of use.
Also as implemented on May 1, 2019, commuter parking on West Street, Pleasant Street, Newton Street and Cambridge Street will continue to be strictly prohibited.
MART will have staff on-site both the weeks of January 20, 2020 and February 3, 2020 to assist customers.
