Town Meeting Articles of the Day - All Articles

In preparation for the 2022 Fall Special Town Meeting on October 24, 2022 at 7pm in the Ayer Shirley Regional High School Auditorium, the Town will be publishing the “Articles of the Day” to provide further information on each of the Town Meeting Warrant Articles.  Each day, the Town will feature Town Meeting Warrant Articles with a summary of each Article.  The complete Town Meeting Warrant and additional information regarding the Warrant Articles can be found here.

Article 1 (Street Acceptance – Portion of Pleasant Street Extension)

This Article would authorize the acceptance of a portion of Pleasant Street Extension as a public way in the Town of Ayer.  The metes and bounds of the road to be accepted are shown on plans on file in the Office of the Town Clerk and available on the Town’s website.  Presentation to be made at Town Meeting.

Article 2 (Street Acceptance – Woodland Way and a Portion of Hemlock Drive) 

This Article would authorize the acceptance of Woodland Way and a portion of Hemlock Drive as public ways in the Town of Ayer.  The metes and bounds of the road to be accepted are shown on plans on file in the Office of the Town Clerk and available on the Town’s website.  Presentation to be made at Town Meeting.

Article 3 (Community Preservation Funding for the Ayer Commons Affordable Housing Project)

This Article would authorize $400,000 from the Community Preservation Fund, Community Housing and Undesignated Reserve Categories for the Affordable Housing Project, Phase 1 by Neighborhood of Affordable Housing, Inc. (NOAH) at 65 Fitchburg Road.  The total number of Affordable units to be constructed is 106 of which 64 will be constructed in Phase 1.  Presentation to be made at Town Meeting.

Article 4 (Community Preservation Funding for the 1943 Ayer Howitzer Restoration Project) 

This Article would authorize $32,232 from the Community Preservation Fund, Historical Preservation Category for the Town to restore the 1943 Howitzer and preservation of the historic monument dedicated to Staff Sergeant Leon Cote by placement on the historic grounds of Town Hall.  Presentation to be made at Town Meeting.
