Town Meeting Articles of the Day (Articles 13 & 14)

Tuesday, April 19, 2022:  In preparation for the 2022 Annual Town Meeting on April 25, 2022 at 7pm in the Ayer Shirley Regional High School Auditorium, the Town will be publishing the “Articles of the Day” to provide further information on each of the Town Meeting Warrant Articles.  Each day, the Town will feature two or three Town Meeting Warrant Articles with a summary of each Article.  The complete Town Meeting Warrant and additional information regarding the Warrant Articles can be found here.

Article 13:  Capital Budget Requests (Borrow Article):  This Article would authorize the Town to borrow $998,238 for the various capital requests listed in Article 13.  Per the Town’s Capital Planning Policy, any capital request more than $50,000 is recommended to be borrowed for. These capital requests were reviewed and approved by the Town’s Capital Planning Committee.  For more information on the FY 2023 Capital Budget Requests, please click here.

Article 14:  Debt Exclusion – Fire Engine Pumper:  This Article would authorize a debt exclusion in the amount of $805,000 to purchase and equip a Fire Engine (Pumper).  A debt exclusion requires the authorization of Town Meeting (this Article) and requires a majority vote by ballot at the Annual Town Election to be held on May 10, 2022.  The Fire Chief submitted an FY 2023 Capital Request for funding to replace the Fire Engine (Pumper).  The Capital Planning Committee voted to recommend this capital project including the funding of $805,000 subject to a debt exclusion per the Town’s Financial Policies.  Presentation to be made at Town Meeting.
