Town Meeting Articles of the Day (Articles 23 through 26)

Friday, April 22, 2022:  In preparation for the 2022 Annual Town Meeting on April 25, 2022 at 7pm in the Ayer Shirley Regional High School Auditorium, the Town will be publishing the “Articles of the Day” to provide further information on each of the Town Meeting Warrant Articles.  Each day, the Town will feature two or three Town Meeting Warrant Articles with a summary of each Article.  The complete Town Meeting Warrant and additional information regarding the Warrant Articles can be found here

 Article 23:  Stabilization Fund:  This Article would transfer $400,000 from Free Cash into the Town’s Stabilization Fund for the purposes of covering the future Year-4 costs of the SAFER Grant for the four firefighter positions; and transfer $1,519,090 into the Town’s Capital Stabilization Fund for a total transfer of $1,919,090.

Article 24:  Community Preservation Act:  This Article appropriates the following amounts for the FY 2023 Community Preservation Act Budget as recommended by the Town’s Community Preservation Committee:  $10,000 for administrative expenses; $110,370 for acquisition, creation, preservation of open space; $110,370 for acquisition , preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of historic resources; $110,370 for acquisition, creation, and preservation and support of community housing; and the remainder sum of $742,588 for the Undesignated Fund Balance/General Fund.  Presentation to be made at Town Meeting.

Article 25:  Community Preservation Fund FY 2023 Transfer of Funds:  This Article transfers the amount of $20,000 from the FY 2023 Community Preservation Fund annual revenues for due diligence of future appropriations by the Community Preservation Committee for general open space purposes.

Article 26:  Pirone Park Playground Project:  This Article would fund $400,000 from the Community Preservation Fund (FY 2023) Balance Reserve from the Open Space Category for the Pirone Park Playground Project which includes the demolition and site remediation of the existing “Kiddie Junction Playground” and the construction of a new playground structure.
