Town Meeting Articles of the Day (Articles 4 & 5)

Wednesday, April 13, 2021:  In preparation for the 2022 Annual Town Meeting on April 25, 2022 at 7pm in the Ayer Shirley Regional High School Auditorium, the Town will be publishing the “Articles of the Day” to provide further information on each of the Town Meeting Warrant Articles.  Each day, the Town will feature two or three Town Meeting Warrant Articles with a summary of each Article.  The complete Town Meeting Warrant and additional information regarding the Warrant Articles can be found here

ARTICLE 4 - Contract Funding:  Ayer Department of Public Works

This Article funds the first- year costs of the Ayer Department of Public Works Contract in the amount of $60,253.  The contract was negotiated by the Town Manager and ratified by the Select Board.  A copy of the contract’s Memorandum of Agreement may be found here.  A brief presentation on this Article will be made at Town Meeting.

ARTICLE 5 - Authorization to Enter into a 5-Year Contract for Police Department Taser Equipment

Per Massachusetts General Law, any contract with a term greater than three years requires Town Meeting authorization.  This Article would authorize the Town to enter a five-year service contract with Axon Enterprises Inc. for the Police Department’s taser equipment at a cost savings to the Town.  A three-year contract would cost $23,255 per year whereas the five-year contract would cost $13,950 per year.  The funding for this contract is in the FY 2023 Police Department Budget.
