SHINE: (Serving Health Information Needs of Everyone)

Trained SHINE volunteers can help you!  They offer free, unbiased, confidential counseling on all aspects of health insurance to anyone on Medicare.  OUR COUNSELORS ARE WORKING REMOTELY!  Call your senior center and ask for a SHINE phone appointment.  You can also call 1-800-AGE-INFO (1-800-243-4636), then press or say 4.   Once you get the SHINE answering machine, leave your name and number. A volunteer will call you back.  During Open Enrollment it may take a couple of days to return your call.  You can also email them at info@shinema.org.  For Assistance with SHINE, call 508-422-9931 or visit their website at www.shinema.org

Food Assistance:

     Loaves & Fishes provides food and support for residents of Ayer and surrounding communities.  Pick-up at Loaves and Fishes, or the Senior Center can deliver to you.

     SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) has special guidelines/eligibility for seniors.  Click here to apply.

     MOC (Making Opportunity Count) provides the food that the Senior Center delivers to Meals on Wheels clients.  If you would like to receive Meals on Wheels, please register with MOC by calling (978)345-8501, ext. 2.

Medical Equipment (To donate used equipment, or borrow for your own use):  The Senior Center does not keep these items on hand, but can refer you to organizations to help. 

Elder Abuse & Neglect:  Elder abuse includes: physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, caretaker neglect, financial exploitation and self-neglect. If you suspect or you are a victim of elder abuse, please call the Senior Center at 978-772-8260 or Elder Protective Services at (800) 922-2275.  If you have an emergency or a life-threatening situaiton, please call 911.
