Transfer Station Policy & Procedures

POLICY AND PROCEDURE FOR TOWN OF AYER TRANSFER STATION

Vehicle stickers are issued each calendar year.  The vehicle stickers are available at the Department of Public Works, 25 Brook Street in November and December of each year.  The Public Works hours are 7:30 – 3:30 Monday through Friday.  Residency will be verified by Public Works personnel using your vehicle registration.  You must bring your vehicle registration with you to purchase/renew your vehicle sticker.  Stickers are vehicle specific and are not transferable.

Additional stickers are limited to one per household.  Permits obtained on or after July 1st of the calendar year will be sold at half price to new residents only and expire on January 1st of the next year.

Transfer station staff and/or designated individuals shall monitor all vehicles using the facility.  Only vehicles with appropriate stickers will be allowed to use the transfer station.  All trash must be in the appropriate Town of Ayer bags.

No illegal dumping is permitted.  If a resident is found disposing of refuse without a valid transfer station sticker, they may be fined $500.00 and must obtain a vehicle sticker from the Public Works.

Non Town of Ayer residents are not permitted to use the transfer station.  Any violation may result in a fine of $500.00.
