The Town of Ayer Department of Public Works (OWNER) will accept SEALED BIDS for the Kiddie Junction Playground Improvements at Pirone Park.

SEALED BIDS, clearly marked, will be received in the office of the DPW Director, 25 Brook Street, Ayer, MA 01432, any time prior to Wednesday October 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The work involves site preparation, installation of erosion control, rough and final grading, installation of concrete and bituminous concrete walks, preparation of the gravel base for the play equipment areas, coordination with the contractors installing the play equipment and poured in place playground surface, installation of Hillside Slide and Stepping Stone Stairs, installation of Fibar Mulch, installation of black vinyl fence and gate, loaming and seeding, and final close out of the project as shown on the plans and as described herein.

Pre-Bid Conference (non-mandatory) will be held for this project at the playground at Pirone Park on October 4, 2023 at 10:00 AM

The bidding and award of this Contract will be under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 30, Section 39M. Complete instructions for filing Bids are included in the Instructions to Bidders. Each General Bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount of 5 percent of the Bid.

No Bidder may withdraw his Bid for a period of ninety (90) days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays after the actual date of the opening of the General Bids. This advertisement does not obligate the Owner for any costs associated with preparing or submitting bids.

The successful General Bidder must furnish a 50 percent Payment Bond with a surety company acceptable to the Owner.

Minimum wage rates as determined by the Commissioner of Department of Workforce Development under the provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27D, as amended, apply to this project. It is the responsibility of the contractor, before bid opening, to request if necessary, any additional information on Prevailing Wage Rates for those trades people who may be employed for the proposed work under this contract.

The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any or all Bids if deemed to be in its best interest.
