ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS

The Town of Ayer Department of Public Works (OWNER) will accept SEALED BIDS for Main St. Street Light Improvements 2022.

Specifications will be available Town of Ayer Web Page www.Ayer.ma.us/Bids or at the Ayer Department of Public Works Office, at 25 Brook Street in Ayer (978-772-8240) on January 26, between the hours of 7:30 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Bidders requesting Contract Documents by mail shall include a separate non-refundable check payable to the Town of Ayer in the amount of $15 per set to cover costs of handling and mailing. 

SEALED BIDS, clearly marked, will be received in the office of the DPW 25 Brook Street, Ayer, MA  01432, any time prior to Wednesday February 16, 2022 at 1:00 pm at which time they will be publicly opened and virtually and read aloud. Bids may be mailed or hand -delivered.

Hand delivered bids shall be placed in the Ayer DPW Drop Box located at the DPW Administrative building at 25 Brook Street prior to the date and time listed above. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the bid opening will be closed to the public and live streamed. The DPW will email the Live Stream Web Address the morning of the bid opening or call 978-772-8240 for information.

The work involves the installation of 7 new decorative streets lights on Main Street and West Main Street, to replace existing light poles and lights. The work will require removal of existing lights, cleaning of existing pole foundation, furnishing and install adaptor plates, anchor bolts, new pole, light fixture and lamps, controllers and associated wiring.

The bidding and award of this Contract will be under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 30, Section 39M.  Each General Bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount of 5 percent of the Bid.

 

No Bidder may withdraw his Bid for a period of sixty (60) days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays after the actual date of the opening of the General Bids.  This advertisement does not obligate the Owner for any costs associated with preparing or submitting bids.

 

The successful General Bidder must furnish a 100 percent Performance Bond and a 100 percent Payment Bond with a surety company acceptable to the Owner.

 

Minimum wage rates apply to this project.

 

The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any or all Bids if deemed to be in its best interest.
