PEARL STREET WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT

The Town of Ayer DPW is seeking bids for the "18DPW04 - Pearl Street Water Main Replacement and Sewer Relining" project. 

Sealed Bids for the General Contract will be received from General Contractors for construction of the Pearl Street Water Main Replacement and Sewer Relining at the Ayer Department of Public Works Office, 25 Brook Street, Ayer, MA 01432 until 1:00 PM on Friday May 4, 2018 and at that time and place bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.

The work involves the installation of approximately 2285 feet of 8-inch ductile iron (DI) water main in Pearl Street from Groton Street to Taft Street and repair / relining of 1135 feet of sewer pipe. The work includes the installation of water main appurtenances, hydrant assemblies, house service connections, and interconnections with other streets within the limits of work.  The method of water main installation is open cut and cover of DI pipe. The sewer work involves short lining and lateral lining of existing 8-inch VC sewer pipe. The time for completion of this contract is 100 calendar days. 

The bidding and award of this Contract will be under the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 30, Section 39M.  Complete instructions for filing Bids are included in the Instructions to Bidders.

Each General Bid shall be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and shall be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount of 5 percent of the Bid.

No Bidder may withdraw his Bid for a period of sixty (60) days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays after the actual date of the opening of the General Bids.  This advertisement does not obligate the Owner for any costs associated with preparing or submitting bids.

The successful General Bidder must furnish a 100 percent Performance Bond and a 100 percent Payment Bond with a surety company acceptable to the Owner.

Minimum wage rates as determined by the Commissioner of Department of Workforce Development under the provisions of M.G.L., Chapter 149, Section 26 to 27D, as amended, apply to this project.  It is the responsibility of the contractor, before bid opening, to request if necessary, any additional information on Prevailing Wage Rates for those trades people who may be employed for the proposed work under this contract.

Contract Documents will be available for download at the Town of Ayer Web Site www.ayer.ma.us/bids and at the Town of Ayer Department of Public Works, 25 Brook Street, Ayer, MA 01432, Telephone 978-772-8240 on/after Wednesday, April 17, 2018  between the hours of 7:30 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.  Bidders requesting Contract Documents by mail shall include a non-refundable check payable to Town of Ayer in the amount of $25 per set to cover costs of handling and mailing. 

The Owner reserves the right to waive any informality in or to reject any or all Bids if deemed to be in its best interest.
