The Town of Ayer is requesting proposals from qualified engineering companies to provide planning, preliminary design and final design for improvements to the Park Street (Routes 2A/111) corridor from Main Street to Groton Street, a distance of 1,000 linear feet. The intersection of Park Street, Main Street, Mill Street and West Main Street, is not included in this project as this is currently under design as part of the MassDOT TIP project for Main Street.

The objective of this project is to implement Complete Streets concepts and reconstruct the street to meet the Town’s new Form Based Code for this area. Design concepts include:

  • Relocating overhead utilities to underground
  • Construction of new cement concrete sidewalks on the eastern side of the street
  • Reducing number and size of curb cuts
  • Installation of granite curbing
  • Addition of on-street parking to layout where possible
  • Upgrading of water, sewer and stormwater utilities
  • Streetscape and pedestrian safety improvements

The intent of this selection process is to have a collaborative effort and select an engineering consultant that is committed to the success of this project.

If any changes are made to this Request for Proposals, an addendum will be issued. Addenda will be mailed, e-mailed or faxed to all bidders on record as having picked up the Request for Qualifications.The Town of Ayer may cancel this Request for Proposals, or reject, in whole or in part, any and all Proposals, if the Town determines that cancellation or rejection serves the best interests of the Town.
