SPECTACLE POND WATER TREATMENT PLANT FILTER MEDIA REPLACEMENT 

The Town of Ayer DPW is seeking sealed bids for the "Spectacle Pond Water Treatment Plant Filter Media Replacement." The project is located at the Spectacle Pond Water Treatment Plant, off Wagon Road in Ayer. 

Sealed Bids for the General Contract will be received for the Spectacle Pond Water Treatment Plant Filter Media Replacement at the Ayer DPW Administrative building at 25 Brook Street, Ayer, MA 01432 until Thursday, November 30, 2023 2:00 (PM), and at that time and place bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.  

The Work consists of removal and replacement of filter media (Anthracite coal media, GreensandPlus™ filter media, Gravel support media) and the rehabilitation of six (6) existing greensand pressure filters at the Spectacle Pond Water Treatment Plant. All work shall be substantially complete within 90 consecutive calendar days of the date fixed in the Notice to Proceed and fully completed within 120 consecutive calendar days of the date fixed in the Notice to Proceed. 

Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 §44A-J & to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.149 §§26 to 27H. It is the responsibility of the contractor, before bid opening, to request, if necessary, any additional information on Prevailing Wage Rates for those trades people who may be employed for the proposed work under this contract. 

General bidders must be certified by the Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) in Water and Sewerage Treatment Facilities and must submit a current DCAM Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAM Update Statement (Form CQ 3). No filed sub-bids apply to this project. 

Each General Bid shall be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and shall be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount of 5 percent of the Bid.  
No Bidder may withdraw his Bid for a period of sixty (60) days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays after the actual date of the opening of the General Bids.  This advertisement does not obligate the Owner for any costs associated with preparing or submitting bids.  

The successful General Bidder must furnish a 100 percent Performance Bond and a 100 percent Payment Bond with a surety company acceptable to the Owner.
